Earlier this week, due to a rainy morning and a child off school, I was busy updating my CPD folder.
As a member of two professional organisations (Association of Reflexologists, and the Federation of Holistic Therapists), I have to commit to a minimum level of continuing professional development (CPD) every year. This means that I can continue to be a member of those organisations, and that I am always learning about reflexology, its applications, research and developments.
As the AoR say in their code of ethics 'The mark of a professional is that they are willing to continually update and expand their knowledge and skills to give the best to their clients'. As a full member, it is compulsory to have a minimum level of CPD hours completed every year.
Some of my learning for development this year :
I have undertaken training in teaching reflexology for babies to parents and carers, taken part in a research study with the AoR, gained a nutrition and health qualification, and I am currently learning about reflexology to support fertility, conception and maternal health.
All this means for you is that I am keeping up-to-date with learning and current practice, in order to bring that understanding to my appointments with you. Always check that you are seeing someone qualified to a nationally recognised level, and that they are a member of a professional regulatory organisation to make sure that you get the best treatments.
I wish you all the very best for the Summer (although today looks fairly horrible!) and hope to see you soon.
