Your Practitioner, Rowena

Welcome! I’m Rowena Gledhill, your holistic therapist.

I love working with all sorts of people, dealing with stress, long term health conditions or those looking for a lovely relaxation treat. I am also a specialist in pre-conception and fertility care, helping people create the families they may just need a little help with.

My work focuses on supporting you to achieve your dreams for a healthy, well balanced life, using reflexology and Gentle Release Therapy, working intuitively and led by you.

I work with people who want to have children – whether couples or singles, whatever way your family is shaped. I believe that you can nourish your fertility in different ways, and I know that touch therapies are powerful yet gentle, and can aid your body its balance and potential.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond to different areas or organs of the body.

Reflexologists work holistically with their clients to achieve better health and wellbeing. During these unusual times when it’s easy to dwell on our contact with other people, it’s good to know that reflexology is a mode of therapy where you are naturally socially distanced from your therapist, and only have to remove your socks!

“People tell me that their reflexology sessions have helped them to recover or better manage serious health issues, have less stress and enjoy life more, which just makes my heart sing. These comments prove the science is right, reflexology is a powerful way to resolve many health issues, and it’s a fantastic way for people to feel calmer, sleep better and feel less stressed,” says Rowena.

Can reflexology help me?

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, and takes into account physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. Many people find it works for them – some don’t. The best way to find out if it works for you is to try it.

The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually, after a treatment, your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis.

With ever increasing levels of stress in everyday life, it is important for people to take more responsibility for their own healthcare needs. Reflexology could be one of the ways to help you deal with the stresses of modern life. The initial consultation for new clients is FREE and easy to book here:

A brief history of reflexology

Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, this therapy was not introduced to the West until Dr. William Fitzgerald developed ‘Zone therapy’. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

In the 1930’s, Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is known now as reflexology. Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body. Her work has been developed and expanded on by reflexologists around the world up to the current day, and now reflexology can include the feet, hands, face and ears.

Is reflexology suitable for me?

Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. There may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment. Just call and ask!
