Reflexology and babies

The Children’s Reflexology programme for parents and carers helps you to learn simple reflexology techniques to soothe, settle and bond with your child, and use routines specially designed for you and your baby by experienced reflexologist and author Susan Quayle (who wrote the successful children’s reflexology book ‘The Mouse’s House’ which the workshops are based on).

This innovative award winning programme uses rhymes, story telling and beautiful illustrations to engage you and your child, making it easy to learn and remember the techniques presented.  The courses are run in informal hourly sessions, and include full colour course notes, and ongoing support through a closed messaging group. If you attend a 5 session course, you will have a complete toolbox of reflexology routines to use to support your little one through their early months and years.

You and your child are welcomed to small, adaptable and baby led classes, where you will learn life-long parenting skills to soothe, nurture and calm your baby.  Each week’s class combines positive bonding with the healing qualities of reflexology, taught to you by an experienced reflexologist (and Mum) with a host of personal experiences of childhood ailments, including prematurity, dairy intolerances, colic and reflux.

Summer news

I can hardly believe that it’s a year since I started Weymouth Bay Reflexology, and only 9 months since the studio was finished and ready for clients.

If you haven’t been to visit for a while, it would be lovely to see you – I still have some appointments left in August (check here for dates).  As we missed our summer holiday time due to moving house in August last year, I’ve made the decision to work only one day per week this year, so that we can really enjoy our new location – closer to the beach!

I am looking forward to welcoming some parents and their babies for my Children’s Reflexology classes, either for a short taster session (last one before September is Wednesday July 12th, 9.45am in the garden studio) or for a full 6 week course – you can send me message to book or ask for more information, or go to kidsreflex for details.

In other news, it seems like the Summer has arrived – the last few weeks have been hot and sunny – the studio has been a little warm at times, but it’s so nice to have the windows and doors open to hear my windchimes and the birds in the garden.

Remember, you don’t have to be ill to enjoy the benefits of reflexology, and a treatment at this time of the year can help get you into the right mood for whatever the summer brings you – school holidays, children at home, or some time off!

I wish you all a very pleasant, relaxing and sunny Summer, and look forward to seeing you soon.

The Children’s Reflexology Programme – coming soon to Weymouth!

I am very pleased to announce that I will be training as an instructor for The Children’s Reflexology Programme at the end of April.  I will be running regular parent and baby/young children reflexology courses, initially in Weymouth, from June onwards, and I am looking for suitable venues to hold classes in Dorchester and Bridport (so if you know somewhere that might work for small groups, please get in touch!).

I will be holding classes at St Aldhelms Church Centre, in Weymouth, but will also run them for local groups (including NCT, childminders and others) on a ‘host-at-home’ basis.  Please get in touch, if you would like me to run a course or one day workshop in your area.  If you would like to be a host for a course for you and your friends, (3-6 dependent on space) you will benefit from a reduced fee.

Course information

During the course, you will learn how to provide your child/ren with reflexology in a relaxing manner, which helps you to improve your child and parent bond, and can support your child’s ability to cope with a variety of health issues, including common problems such as:

*colic *teething *earache *digestive issues *allergies *reaction to immunisations

You will get comprehensive handouts with each class, showing you how to work the reflex points, which you can use at home.  You also receive a copy of The Mouse’s House, a delightfully illustrated story book, with reflexology moves to accompany each part of the engaging story, and a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.  Find out more at The Children’s Reflexology Programme.
